I'm in London! I arrived today around 7am London time...after a LOOOOONG day of flying...geeze.
It was fun though, there were plenty real life British people on the plane. It took almost an hour to get from the airport tube stop to the Barbican Square tube stop. Im staying for a few days in a flat in the Barbican...its a whole bunch of apartment/flat complexes in a huuuge area....its GIANT and its right next to a music and drama university (how appropriate). The Tube is pretty much like the T in Boston except its HUGE and the doors don't re-open if you get caught in them...intense. OH! and when ever they open the doors they say "mind the gap" because there's a huge gap between the platform and the train...so all you hear for the whole ride is "mind the gap...mind the gap...mind the gap..." I think ill make a t-shirt that says..."Mind the gap.".
ANDDD we went to Kings Cross Station....you know...the station in Harry Potter with Platform 9 and 3/4....it was AWESOME!
I crashed today when we got in to the flat and took a long nap before exploring the city with Jmike and Brian (Jmikes friend from school/co-worker).
We went and saw Jmikes office building that includes an ice rink in the middle of it!!
And i saw my first London telephone booth....soo good. We took the tube into downtown London to Piccadilly Square. Its like Time Square on steroids. There's even a little carnival there with games and rides and 3 different movie theaters all right next to each other and every single type of food you could ever desire....EVER.
We walked through the theater district and saw that Les Mis is showing along with tons of other shows that ill be seeing with my group when i meet up with them. Its all so overwhelming and exciting...every few steps i would stop and oohh and ahhh at everything i saw.
Unfortunately i didn't bring my camera. i was too wiped out and tired to carry it and i didnt want to have it while i was tired....dont want to get robbed...or shanked or anything.
We went to dinner at an Italian restaurant in the square. It was weird we just seated ourselves and then the waiters came to us...oh Europe...how i love thee. I had pizza and a coke...but not just any coke....European coke...(it tastes the same to me...Jmike disagrees).
Tomorrow we are going back to Piccadilly so there will be tons of photos for posting.
...Ill post some pictures of the flat too...its straight out of 1970s...haha soo good...and the hallway smells like mothballs....(Nana).
Well I'm off!
There will be much posting of photos tomorrow!
Cheers!
